ABOUT USBrighton Adventist Academy is operated by the Seventh-day Adventist Church to provide a spiritually oriented education for children. Here are some basic questions and answers about BAA!
What are your school hours? We go 4 days a week, Monday-Thursday, 8:00-4:00. Sometimes, we have Friday school to make up for snow days, usually about 4 during a school year. These school days are for grades K-9, and are learning days we do all together. They may include track and field day, Christmas party day, Valentines Day activities, etc. What grades are at BAA? Pre-K to Grade 9. Is there hot lunch? There is hot lunch on Thursdays. Eighth grade sells pizza on Thursdays, its $5 for 2 slices, or $15 for a whole pizza. Bring your own drink! What is the process of talking to my child's teacher? You may speak to your child's teacher anytime! Its super important to us that there is open communication because school and families. You will have personal cell phone numbers of our staff. If you have an issue, a sick child, you're running late, etc. Send the teacher a quick text. That being said, please be respectful of their personal time and if it's during a school day, that they are busy teaching. If you have an issue you aren't comfortable speaking about with the teacher, please reach out to Ashley. Do you accept students from non-SDA families? YES! Let's be honest, all of us want what's best for our children. We went them to learn in a Christian environment. All the students have bible class everyday, and you are welcome to speak with your child's teacher about what they will be learning. We currently have families from Adventist, Jewish, and non-denominational Christians. Other important info: We are a locked, closed campus. If your child forgets their lunch, or you need to drop something off, we ask that you text the teacher, leave it at the front door and they will get it as soon as they are able. Students are not allowed to go to the front door during school hours. We follow the snow closure policy for 27J. However, we have families that come from Aurora, Keenesburg, Broomfield, Ft. Lupton, etc., so if it is sketchy for your trip into school, we totally understand. A school day is not worth an accident! What can my kiddo bring for lunch? You can send them whatever they will eat. This inevitably comes up (usually with the little kiddos!), because some of our students are vegetarian. Adventist's are big on health (ie Loma Linda, CA) so for school provided food, snacks, pizza Thursdays--are all vegetarian. When we have our annual Thanksgiving potluck with our families, families can bring dishes with chicken or beef (no pork) but we ask that dishes are clearly labeled. If you have an admissions, enrollment, or payment question, email Melissa at admin@baaconnect.org or text her. Melissa has a different schedule everyday, so it's best to text her and she will get back to you.
